Deep Roots Hard Cider

I can’t think of a better way to kick off 2024 than to reveal my favorite find of 2023 – Deep Roots Hard Cider. I’ll admit I was hooked from the moment we pulled up and were greeted by the friendly cidery goats. This off the beaten path gem boasts the largest selection of hard ciders than any cidery I’ve visited so far – and that includes such big names as Angry Orchard and Bold Rock. Best of all, Deep Roots’ tastings are free and with such a large variety to sample, you are guaranteed to fall in love with at least one cider, or in our case, six.

As we hunkered down in Deep Roots’ rustic tasting room, we were immediately impressed by the diversity of their hard ciders – from the driest of drys to the sweetest of sweet and everything in-between. The bourbon-barrel-aged Double Barrel Reserve totally rocked my husband Mark’s world with the Rare Ones running a close second. I found the Orchard Select to be a slightly carbonated delight while the tartly sweet Troublemaker was irresistible. I was hesitant to try the fruit ciders as those tend to be nauseatingly sweet. Not here! The Pineapple Hard Cider was quite simply the best I’ve ever tasted and Deep Roots’ Black Cherry simply blows Mc Kenzie’s out of the water!

For those seeking a different experience, Deep Roots also offers wine, cider slushies, milkshakes and smoothies. Yum! You are allowed to bring your own food and doggies are welcome too. In the warm weather, live music and other events are offered every Saturdays and there are camper hookups available as well. And yes, we will be back!
