Manatawny Creek Winery

The first time we encountered Manatawny Creek Winery was during a wine trail weekend several years ago. Manatawny Creek had gone all out for the event with food trucks, crafters, and live music and we had a blast that day. While festivals are fun, they don’t give you a real sense of what a particular winery is really like and so a return visit was in order. This past January, we finally got to experience the real Manatawny Creek. Due to the wintery weather we weren’t able to appreciate their best feature – the deck overlooking the winery’s pretty grounds. However, the tasting room was quite homey and the wine selection, impressive.

We kicked off our tasting journey with Soleil, a refreshing blend of Cayuga and Seyval. As usual, my palate gravitated to the semi dry whites and sweeter wines such as Gewurztraminer, Rose, Ruby and Golden, a Niagara that’s on par with the best of Finger Lakes. But the biggest surprise was Winter Warmth. I’m a no fan of warm, mulled wine but found this one quite enjoyable probably due to the fact it was only mildly spiced.

Manatawny Creek Winery will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in July and I would like to raise a glass to another 25 years of great wine and merriment.
